DSBA Alliance featured their booth during the Hannover Messe
June 10, 2022

The Hannover Messe most recently featured the booth of the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA), specifically representing its four organisations: Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL, the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), FIWARE Foundation, and the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA).

The DSBA aims to align four voices into one common framework to make data spaces happen. Data spaces are viewed as key to achieving sovereign, interoperable and trustworthy data-sharing across businesses and societies – a key step to the data economy of the future.

With its rich, complementary set of players and skills, the Alliance will pull together the necessary players to simultaneously drive awareness, evangelise technology, shape standards and enable integration across industries.

This collaboration, is the first initiative of its kind, bringing together the necessary industry players to realise a data-driven future in which organisations and individuals can unlock the full value of their data.

The latest Hannover edition witnessed overwhelming participation from industry players, start-ups, and multi-national corporations, fully sharing the European roadmap.

Discussing the impact of the DSBA, Francesco Bonfiglio, CEO of Gaia-X “We are converging the best skills, assets, and experience into a single view to eventually build a European data spaces ecosystem, from inception to deployment. One voice, one framework and one joint mission to move the future of the digital economy from theory to market, timely and efficiently. This Alliance is the way to go.”

Dominik Rohrmus, Interim COO of Gaia-X highlighted “the success stories of the four-founding organisations is already cutting to the chase. The joint understanding of data spaces, the framework necessities, and the need for collaboration to leverage the data sharing business potentials is demonstrated in the areas of Industry 4.0, Smart-City, and many more to come. With the joint Hub landscape, across 15 European countries and 2 international hubs alongside the data spaces landscape makes things much easier and fast”.

Ulrich Ahle, CEO of FIWARE The focus of the Hannover Fair is traditionally on the manufacturing industry where continuously more digitisation is driving the further collaboration along the supply chain and the product life cycle. At the same time, it becomes clear that manufacturing data spaces need to be interoperable with data spaces in other domains like mobility or energy. The DSBA is providing the instruments to enable this interoperability.

Lars Nagel, CEO of International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) We have stood up together as DSBA to make Data Spaces happen, to bring business impact. During the Hannover Fair we witnessed the first impressive results – in the industry domain, which is rather fundamental for economic wealth: Catena-X, Smart Connected Supplier Network and Mobility Data Space are born, alive and kicking. We intend to make them flourish and grow them even more with the help of our ecosystems. Speeding up this process and easing the life for everyone with one voice, one vision and one common framework for data spaces.

Ana García, Secretary General of Big Data Value Association (BDVA) highlighted

“This alliance brings together key European data communities, BDVA, FIWARE, Gaia-X and IDSA conforming probably the largest Data Partnership or Alliance in Europe ever before. DSBA embraces a wide range of stakeholders covering the overall spectrum of the data technology stack from data infrastructure to data value and AI, and addressing the overall innovation lifecycle, from research to market. The combined large network of hubs collaborating and federating resources, is supporting SMEs, Start-ups, innovators, and companies all over Europe to benefit from the Data Economy and to develop data-driven innovations and solutions bringing value to the market and society overall”.

In addition to the DSBA booth, Gaia-X and GXFS equally featured their own booth at Hannover Messe, fully committing to create an open and transparent digital economy based on European values and standards, but equally crossing borders.

The overarching theme of this year’s Hannover Messe show was the rise of Industrial 4.0 and how companies are embracing sustainable, and futuristic technologies.
